New Year’s Resolution: Get Yourself Relationship Ready in 2014

relationships in 2014Dating is a great way to get to know new people and do new things. But dating can also be frustrating.

There are the crash-and-burn dates where you wish you could have your wasted time back. There are the awkward dates where you can’t believe they brought up certain subjects. And then there are the dates that go well but they just don’t call you back or text you. It’s pretty common to feel like Goldilocks going from one to another trying to find the one that’s just right for you.

With the New Year here, you may be thinking about resolutions to help you find that special someone.

But perhaps more importantly than finding that special someone is making resolutions that will help you be that special someone for someone else. This puts you in the driver’s seat so you’re not just waiting for that special someone to come by. By setting resolutions that improve yourself, you can explore a lot of new things and have a lot of fun in the meantime. Below are some resolutions that will help get you relationship ready for 2014.

1) Resolve Bad Feelings From Past Relationships.

We’ve all had bad relationships before. And whether you like it or not, some of these relationships still leave you feeling once bitten, twice shy at times. Not only is this kind of “baggage” unattractive, but it keeps you from being able to wholly invest in a relationship because you’re still afraid of getting burned again.

So instead of resenting the past, resolve it. You can overcome feelings of past damage by doing simple self-reflection exercises such as journaling, reading, doing yoga or other forms of meditation. These are not only good to help you overcome past damage from relationships, but they also help you feel like your optimal self – which also helps you attract Mr./Mrs. Right.

2) Explore Hew Hobbies.

It’s fun and exciting to meet someone with unique interests and hobbies. You can be that fun an interesting person to others by exploring new hobbies this year. This creates fun things for you to do but more importantly it also makes you more multi-dimensional and interesting. This is great for attracting dates who are also multi-dimensional and interesting. And two multi-dimensional and interesting people make for a great couple.

3) Become More Comfortable With Yourself.

One of the most popular New Year’s goals is to lose weight. But this year, instead of trying to ‘shape up’, make a resolution to become more comfortable in the skin you’re in. This kind of confidence in yourself is endearing and even sexy.

Not only should you set a resolution feel more comfortable with your body but you should also feel confident about yourself. Instead of trying to hide your insecurities about yourself, embrace them. Hiding pieces of yourself will not only make you feel very frustrated but hiding parts of yourself is a bad way to start a relationship. Do what it takes to embrace your insecurities and not be insecure about them anymore.

These three resolutions are a great way to start the New Year. They are also resolutions that will help get yourself relationship ready in 2014 because you’ve done a lot of self-improvement that makes you attractive, unique and interesting — just the kind of person who will attract that special someone. And by finding that special someone who is just right for you, these resolutions can help make sure that your 2014 is the best year ever!
