How to Map an Online Dating Profile

Online dating doesn’t have to be a huge time commitment … if you do it the right way. Relationship expert Laurel House is here to tell you how.

Optimize your time searching for love online by asking yourself these important questions:

1. What is my purpose?

Figure out why you are trying online dating in the first place — is it to expand yourself, settle down, or browse for a casual relationship? Answering that question will help you find the perfect person to fit your needs.

2. What do I want?

Define the top five things that are most important to you when looking for a mate. Also, figure out in what order those criteria are most important. It will help you narrow down the pool of people to look through.

3. How do I pre-qualify?

Pre-qualifying = efficiency! Use the list you created when browsing dating profiles to weed out people that don’t meet your non-negotiables. Looking for someone who likes mountain climbing? Then don’t contact someone who doesn’t list mountain climbing as one of their interests. There are plenty of people out there that WILL meet your requirements — you don’t need to settle for anything less than what you want.
